Oxnard (Anderson Paak Album)

On May 25th 2018, Dr. Dre accidentally confirmed that Paak’s new album would be called ‘Oxnard Ventura’ through an Instagram livestream. A press run centered around a Rolling Stone interview on September 4th, 2018, announced the album would simply be titled, ‘Oxnard’, named after his hometown of the same name.

The album title was also teased in the music video for “Bubblin”.

The name of the album follows up the theme which Paak has been using for some years, which is coastal towns of California; his 2014 mixtape, Venice and his 2016 debut album, Malibu.

Aftermath A&R Ty Cannon confirmed that the album had been completed on September 12th, 2018.

On October 4th, 2018 the track “Tints” was premiered on Zane Lone’s “World Record”. In a Beats1 interview, Anderson also shared details of some of the features on the album. The feature list includes J Cole, Pusha T, and contributions from Madlib. Anderson has also been seen with Q-Tip.
